Grace Gould

Grace Gould
Investor at Index Ventures

Grace focuses on early stage investments. Prior to joining Index, Grace was part of the Entrepreneur First 2013 cohort where she worked on two startups, one in the media and one in the healthcare space. Previously, she graduated from the Apple Store Leadership Programme where she spent a year managing the Regent Street Apple Store. She is passionate about communications, having worked in PR at Transferwise, Freud Communications and M&C Saatchi PR. Grace studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Lady Margaret Hall College, Oxford.

Christian Nagel

Christian Nagel
Co-founder & Partner at Earlybird

Engineer, co-founder and partner of Earlybird. Previously at McKinsey and then invested in former communist companies helping them become modern. Kite surfer and world champion sailor. Christian has more than 20 years of entrepreneurial and investment experience. He is currently on the boards of Auctionata (Berlin), LiquidM (San Francisco/Berlin), Number26 (Berlin), Smava (Berlin), Ubitricity (Berlin) and Versus (Berlin).

 

Bill Earner

Bill Earner
Managing Partner at Connect Ventures

Bill is a managing partner at Connect Ventures. He has 10 years working in venture capital and startups, having worked as an investment manager at Amadeus Capital and in a variety of operational roles at several California based startups. Bill has expertise in product management and marketing. Bill has a degree in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and an MBA from London Business School. He is on the boards of Avari, Citymapper, Marvel, and Secret Sales. 

John Helm

John Helm
Venture Partner at DN Capital

John is a Venture Partner for DN Capital in Germany, and is also on the board of DotLoop, a venture backed real estate technology company in the United States. John is also an active angel investor, co-investing alongside venture firms in companies where he can add value. Previously, John was the founder and CEO of two venture backed startups in the online real estate space in the U.S..  He sold his most recent company, MyNewPlace to RealPage (NYSE:RP) for $78.5 million in the summer of 2011.  Under John's leadership, MyNewPlace grew by taking share away from five well entrenched competitors to become the second highest traffic apartment rental website in the U.S.

Julian Carter

Julian Carter is a co-founder of EC1 Capital. He is a hands-on entrepreneur and experienced executive with over 15 years of working in web-related companies in verticals such as Casual Social Games, Interactive TV, Mobile, Classifieds Publishing, SEO and Legacy Software Modernisation in the UK and Ireland. Julian started EC1 Capital because we are living in an extraordinary pivotal time as we move quickly from an analog to a purely digitial society. The age of mobile is finally upon us, information is eating everything, legacy businesses are being disrupted. The massively falling costs of starting a tech company have created a market for EC1 Capital to invest in promising technology startups.

Tobias Stone

Tobias Stone
CEO MedTech Focus

Tobias Stone is co-founder of EyeFocus Accelerator, a specialist digital health accelerator. It is the first accelerator to address eye-care, and is a new model of accelerator aimed at building ecosystems that will be rolled out to cover different sectors of healthcare. Tobias advises a number of other accelerators and startups, as well as doing academic research into innovation and accelerators.

Seth Pierrepont

Seth Pierrepont
Investor at Accel Partners

Seth joined Accel in 2013. Prior to Accel, Seth worked at Vision Capital, an international private equity firm, where he focused on assessing new investment opportunities and overseeing the performance of existing portfolio companies. Seth began his career as a strategy consultant at Oliver Wyman, working in both the San Francisco and London offices and focusing on the media, technology, and retail sectors. Having grown up in the Chicago area, he has also lived in China, India, and Europe. Seth completed his Masters degree in Engineering Management at Dartmouth College. He also holds undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and graduated magna cum laude.

Wayne Gibbins

Wayne Gibbins
Vice President at Notion Capital

Wayne is an associate at Notion Capital, an entrepreneur backed venture capital firm focused on high potential businesses in the Cloud Computing and Software-as-as-Service (SaaS) markets. He describes himself as a marketing and communications professional passionate about digital communications, broader technology and web/mobile start-ups. Wayne always worked in the web and technology sector, from tech startups to companies with a global footprint and international clients, across a variety of roles from a starting point as a programmer and software architect through product management, marketing, partnerships and communications.

John Henderson

John Henderson
Principal at White Star Capital

John is a Principal at White Star Capital where he focuses primarily on seed and early stage companies in the following areas: mobile, data, marketplaces, gaming and digital currency. Prior to joining White Star Capital, John was the COO at Summly, a news summarisation and aggregation app which was acquired by Yahoo! in April 2013.

John has also held roles in strategy and business development at Facebook, as a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group and as a lawyer at Allens-Linklaters. Based out of London, John invests in early stage companies across Europe.

Pradeep is investor at Forward Partners. He started his first company at 17, which he ran with a school colleague for nearly six years and then sold successfully. He was CEO and Co-founder of various IT companies before going into the VC sector in 2011.

Neelie Kroes

Neelie Kroes
European Commissioner for Digital Agenda

Neelie is a Dutch politician who served as a Member of the House of Representatives from 3 August 1971 until 28 December 1977 when she became State Secretary for Transport, Public Works and Water Management from 28 December 1977 until 11 September 1981, in the Cabinet Van Agt I. After a long period of working on the board of commissioners of several multinational corporations she returned to active politics when she became the European Commissioner for Competition for the Barroso Commission. She continued to serve in the second term in the Barroso Commission as the new European Commissioner for Digital Agenda and became one of several Vice-Presidents of the European Commission.

Isidro Laso Ballesteros

Isidro had his first taste of entrepreneurship at university, where he created a junior enterprise. After graduating as an Engineer from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, he worked with Geographic Information Systems and design tools before becoming a strategic consultant to high-level executives, mainly in the telco and media sector. Isidro’s objectives for the Policy Fellowship are to share views on policy measures to strengthen the environment for web entrepreneurs in Europe; to learn new ways of policy making better adapted to an era of extremely rapid change; and to access international knowledge and best practices related to policies for web startups.

Sigrid Johannisse

Sigrid is the director of Startup Delta, an initiative of the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs. She has previously worked at the European Commission as advisor to Vice President Neelie Kroes, looking at digitisation in the perspective of systemic change and innovation. 

Pascal Finette

Pascal Finette
Head of Google Giving, Entrepreneur and founder at ten|x

Pascal Finette is the founder of ten|x, an advisory and business development firm specializing in open innovation and entrepreneurship. Before, he led the Mozilla Labs and created Mozilla's accelerator program WebFWD. Prior to Mozilla, he led eBay's Platform Solutions Group, launched a consulting practice to help entrepreneurs with their strategy & operations and invested into startups. Pascal frequently consults Fortune 500 companies on Open Innovation, mentors entrepreneurs at TechStars, Seedcamp, The Unreasonable Institute and many other places.

Roxanne Varza

Roxanne Varza
Startup Lead at Microsoft France

Roxanne Varza currently leads Microsoft's startup activities in France, running both Bizspark and Microsoft Ventures programs. In April 2013, Business Insider listed her as one of the top 30 women under 30 in tech. Prior to Microsoft, she worked for several European startups and was also the Editor of TechCrunch France. She also co-founded the French and British chapters of Girls in Tech and is the co-organizer of the Failcon Paris conference. More recently, she co-founded Tech.eu, a European tech publication. Prior to TechCrunch, Roxanne worked for the French government's foreign direct investment agency in San Francisco helping fast-growing startups develop their activities in France

Alex Farcet

Alex Farcet
Co-Founder and Managing Director of Startupbootcamp

Alex is a partner at Rainmaking and Co-founder and Managing Director of Startupbootcamp - a European startup accelerator with programs in Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, London, Istanbul, Tel Aviv and Haifa. He co-founded the Rainmaking Loft Berlin, an elite tech and investor co-working space. Alex drives angel investor growth with Angelsbootcamp, whose objective is to motivate and educate 1000 new angel investors in Europe. He is a partner at Venture Scout, an startup & innovation sourcing consultancy for corporates. Finally, Alex is an active Startup Weekend organiser in the Nordics and Africa and sits on the board of the Global Accelerator Network.

Nicola is an Investment Director in Vertis SGR, managing Venture Capital operations. He was Italian representative in the High Level Group for Innovation Policy Management, a task force promoted by the European Council in charge of designing the new European innovation policies. He was also member of the Informal Advisory Board of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. Before joining Vertis he was Chief Investment & Technology Officer of TTVenture, the first Italian venture capital fund focused on technology transfer, running 23 investments and launching SeedLab, among the top Italian startup accelerator programs.

Investment Manager at Redstone Digital

Prior to joining Redstone Digital (a Venture Capital Management Company) based in Berlin as an Investment Manager Videesha worked for another London based Venture Capital Fund. Before this she worked as an Entrepreneur in Residence at TalkTalk Plc, a FTSE 250 UK based Telco reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors. She gained substantial financial and operational experience at the start of her career working in South East Asia and London for Barclays Wealth.

 

Min-Sung Sean Kim

Min-Sung is a Partner at XLHEALTH, a Berlin-based Venture Capital fund specialized on Digital Health investments. XLHEALTH current portfolio includes mySugr, Neuronation and Harimata. Before joining the XLHEALTH team, he founded and sold his first business and conducted seed investments with Lakeside-Ventures. Min-Sung studied in Witten, Seoul, St. Gallen, and Cambridge (MA).

Jewell Sparks

Jewell is a biologist, turned serial entrepreneur with both corporate and startup experience. She has spent the majority of her professional career assessing and prepping markets by building brand and category awareness prior to the launch of disruptive biotechnology products (corporate), software (startup),  IoT and Wearable (corporate + startup) innovations. A Silicon Valley transplant based in Germany, she has focused on “Bridging the Gap” between entrepreneurs, startups, corporate entities and brands, creating the "Pitch Compass" to aid entrepreneurs with creation and development of 3-10 minute product pitches in order to translate complex technical terms to common phrases which can be comprehended by all. 

Glen Mehn

Glen Mehn is a partner at Bethnal Green Ventures (BGV), Europe's first social investment accelerator. He has designed and run innovation programmes for early-stage start-ups in over 20 countries with diverse clients such as UNDP and the British Council. He has spent nearly 20 years in early stage businesses, ranging from a mobile banking start-ups in Zambia to genotyping and drug development in Silicon Valley. Glen is a trustee for Appfrica, a school governor for St John’s Angell Town primary school, on the advisory board for In the Picture and a trustee for The Kitschies. He holds a BA in English Literature and Sociology from the University of New Orleans and an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Ricardo Marvão

Ricardo Marvão
Co-Founder & Board Member of Beta-i

Ricardo Marvão is Co-Founder & Board Member of Beta-i (a non-profit built by entrepreneurs to help the next generation of entrepreneurs), as well as coordinator of the Lisbon Challenge startup accelerator. He also co-founded and was the CEO of Evolve Space Solutions, one of the first Portuguese startups providing software products and services for the major European space agencies and aerospace companies, that was later acquired by Novabase (the biggest Portuguese IT company, in Euronext Index). Ricardo was Manager for the Aerospace department at Novabase until early 2013.

Michael Backes

Michael Backes
Managing Director at Liquid Labs

Michael Backes calls himself an entrepreneur and Techie building new companies. He is managing director at the Liquid Labs GmbH, where he makes use of his previous experience in building internet platforms and in as a VC.

Alec McCullie

Alec co-founded London based mobile tech startup PinPoint in 2014, and is now working with several European startups in the indoor positioning space. He has a background in Mechanical Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer in the UK, having gained international experience in Japan, Germany, Austria, Spain and the US. He holds an MBA from SDA Bocconi, where his focus was Entrepreneurship, and has studied Venture Capital at the Wharton School in the US. 

Luisa Maier

During her undergraduate degree in South Africa, Luisa co-founded an NGO and a marketing & part-time staffing agency which she setup across three cities and was CEO of for five years. After completing her MBA at ESMT in 2012 Luisa has been part of shaping the European startup ecosystem as Project Manager for the European Commission startup competition Tech All Stars since 2013; as Chief Operating Officer at the Berlin-based startup accelerator Startupbootcamp; and now as the director of Lab & Venture at GTEC.

Di Su

Di Su
Project Assistant

Di is a 2015 MBA candidate from Queensland University of Technology in Australia and SDA Bocconi in Italy. She left China for New Zealand when she was sixteen and moved to Australia in 2004. She received her Bachelor of Commerce in 2006 and became a fully qualified CPA in 2009. In the past eight years, Di has been working with multinational businesses in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Railroad industries. A firm believer in working with others, Di is very passionate about entrepreneurship and looking forward to starting her own business in the near future.
